Jeongbang Waterfall, a short walk from the hotel along the street that shares its name, is one of the few waterfalls in Asia that falls directly into the sea. Visitors climb down to the rocky shore to see the water plunge from the cliff. Early morning is quietest.

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, about fifteen minutes on foot, lies in a lush gorge near the harbour and is open in the evening, when lighting creates a romantic atmosphere. The path is flat and easy.

Saeseom island, connected to the harbour by the Saeyeon Bridge designed like a traditional fishing boat, offers a short walking loop with views of the sea and Munseom island. At night, the illuminated bridge is a popular photo spot.

Lee Jung seop Street honours the famous Korean painter who lived in Seogwipo during the Korean War. His small thatched house and the art gallery dedicated to his work are close to the hotel, and the street hosts craft markets on weekends.

Maeil Olle Market, about ten minutes away, is the best place for local food: Jeju black pork, fresh raw fish, tangerines and hallabong citrus, chewy rice cakes and grilled seafood. Evening stalls are lively, and many travellers buy takeaway to eat on the rooftop.

Further along the coast, Oedolgae rock and the cliffs of the Olle trail offer spectacular walks. Seogwipo sits on several Olle routes, making it a perfect starting point for hikers.
